A Federal Jury of 12 jurors unanimously voted in favour of death penalty to Robert Bowers for killing 11 members of the Jewish community at the Tree of Life Synagogue in October 2018.
Commenting on the development, a Federal official said Robert shot almost half of the people inside the Pittsburgh Synagogue in 2018 and he only surrendered when he was out of ammunition.
Today’s verdict meant many things for many people but it can’t bring back those who were killed in the attack, he added.
The Jury had found Bowers guilty on all 63 counts for which he was charged and gave the message that ‘Hate has no place in our community (US).’
The Pittsburgh synagogue shooting or the Tree of Life synagogue shooting had taken place on 27 October 2018 in Pennsylvania, United States.
Robert Bowers had entered the Tree of Life synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood and opened indiscriminate firing on the Jewish people.
Motivated by anti-semitic beliefs, Bowers continued firing for several minutes which resulted in the deaths of 11 people while injuring several others.
The injured included four police officers who responded to the scene and he only surrendered when he was out of ammo.

Bowers had vented hatred towards Jewish people on social media platforms just before carrying out the attack.
There was an outpouring of grief and support from communities worldwide after the attack for the victims and their families.
This was termed as one of the deadliest attacks on the Jewish community in the US history.
