This is despite the fact that Tarantula Spiders generally prey on frogs and they are part of their diet.
However, they didn’t eat these dotted humming frogs or Microhylids or narrow mouth frogs. And there is an interesting story as to how a Tarantula spider identified a frog that should be left unharmed.
As per scientists, young Tarantula spiders generally smell frogs that come in its way and leave them unharmed in the wild.
But whenever it comes across Microhylids frogs, they like to keep them in company or let them share its tree hole. And it is decided by the distasteful skin smell that this frog species produce.
In addition, this small frog eats small ants which generally prey on Tarantula Spider eggs and helps the species in protecting its progeny.
In return, these dotted humming frogs as per Crocraft and Hambler in its 1989 study, gets protection as they are preyed upon by snakes, other large spider species, mantis and arthropods under which there are over million insect species.
