Have you ever seen a beautiful bird like Mandarin Duck, perhaps not and it is the reason that a video of it, is going viral for all good reasons.
The 14-second video which had been shared by Biltek Videos, shows the colourful bird performing its routine in a lake.
The Mandarin Duck’s video has gone viral since it was shared on social media, garnering over 5 million views on Twitter.
Native to East Asia, Mandarin Ducks are almost endangered in its native countries of China and Russia where 1,000 pairs are believed to be residing in the wild in each country.
Japan is believed to have over 5,000 pairs in the wild which migrate to eastern China or Southern Japan in winters.
After its introduction to Britain, Europe and North America as pets due to Mandarin Ducks beauty, it has made thick forested areas near shallow ponds, marshes or lakes in these countries as its habitat.
The shy-birds are sexually dimorphic meaning male ducks are in vibrant colours while females are similar to wood ducks.
Mandarin Ducks are believed to be lifelong couples and they hold a special place in Chinese, Korean and Japanese cultures, symbolising conjugal affection and fidelity.
