Angels and Fairies are a subject of which we have heard and seen their representation in various mythological books. But you might not have heard about sea angels.

Yes, they exist in our oceans, especially in the cold waters of the Arctic and North Atlantic Oceans.

Sea angel, a real-life creature called Clione Limacine in scientific terms, is a type of marine gastropod mollusk that belong to the family, Clionidae.

These are also commonly referred to as ‘nudibranch’ or ‘nudibranchia’ which is a broader term for colorful species as strikingly beautiful sea slugs. But they have distinct characteristics that set them apart from ‘nudibranchs’.

Sea angels have a unique body shape that resembles a small, translucent, and often delicate winged creature.

They have a pair of wing-like structures known as parapodia that allow them to swim gracefully through the water.

Sea angels can display various colors and patterns, including shades of blue, purple, pink, and white.

The vibrant colors often serve as a warning to potential predators, indicating that they might be toxic or unpalatable.

These species primarily feed on other small organisms, particularly gelatinous zooplankton like jellyfish and other small sea creatures.

They possess specialized feeding structures which allow them to capture and consume their prey.

Sea angels are found in cold oceanic waters, particularly in the polar regions and they go through a relatively simple lifecycle.

These have both sexual and asexual reproduction and they generally are small creatures with adult sizes of a few millimeters to a few centimeters in length.
