Viral Today: Elderly Lady’s Face Lights Up With Joy After Getting Electricity Connection

Getting an electricity connection and seeing the light bulb at her mud house for the first time in her life, lit up the face of this elderly lady with joy in Bulandshahr region of India’s Northern state of Uttar Pradesh and the video of the incident has now gone viral on social media.

Shared by IPS officer Anukriti Sharma, the viral video shows the kind side of UP Police wherein the top cop with the help of SHO in Bulandshahr district, Jitendra along with his team got an elderly lady Noorjahan’s house lit up on Monday.

In the video, Noorjahan is seen giving a precious smile after Sharma and Bulandshahr cops usher in light in her life, literally.

This all seemed like a dream come true for Noorjahan as a light bulb lit up her humble abode and it was accompanied by a complementary table fan, as a goodwill gesture by UP cops in the season of sweltering heat

Sharing the video, Anukriti Sharma wrote on Twitter, “#Swades moment of my life. Getting electricity connection to Noorjahan aunty’s house literally felt lyk bringing light into her life.

As per government reports, over 10 lakh households in India, mostly in rural India among the poorest sections of the society still don’t have electricity connections.

However, the scenario rapidly changed after 2014 as the Indian government pumped over Rs 45,000 crore to provide electricity to every household in the country in an ambitious electrification scheme.

As per a recent WHO report, 99% of households in India now have electricity connections up as Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government claimed to have connected crores of households with power supply lines.
