UP records peak power demand of over 26k MW in 2023 summer season

As scorching continue to heat Uttar Pradesh, the Indian state had recorded a peak over demand of over 26,000 MW on 22 May, UP Energy Minister AK Sharma said on Wednesday while reiterating that uninterrupted power supply is being ensured to every citizen.
In a statement, Sharma said the electricity is being provided without any power cut in all areas of Uttar Pradesh and even peak power demand is being met that wasn’t the case earlier.
He called to implement Compensation law in case of power cuts strictly in the interest of consumer and directed the officials to solve residents problems of the immediately.
He also appealed to save and conserve electricity immediately interest of the country and the state.
“The state government is not backing down from taking tough steps and taking tough decisions in the interest of its 3.27 crore consumers.
At present, a provision has been made to compensate the consumers for not getting the facilities on time and to ensure this, strict instructions have been given to all the officers to resolve complaints within the stipulated time.
“At present, due to local reasons as uprooting of trees or any kind of accident due to storm wherever power supply is being disrupted, it is being rectified immediately.
Besides, instructions have also been given to check the load of the transformer time save it from any short circuits due to overload and it shouldn’t hamper uninterrupted power supply.
“Nevertheless, provision has also been made for a trolley transformer in case such a problem arises so that such transformers are replaced in timely manner,” he added.
