UKAEA STEP program gets four new directors

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) program got four new directors on Thursday.

The four appointments in STEP include Prof Chris Waldon, Debbie Kempton, Sounak Dutta (Sho) and Dr James R Cowan.
A former STEP Delivery Director Prof Chris Waldon has been appointed as the new STEP Chief Engineer. Debbie Kempton has been appointed as STEP Director of the Engineering Programme.
Sounak (Sho) Dutta has been appointed as STEP Director of Supply Chain and Commercial.
Dr James R Cowan has been appointed as STEP Director of Programme Development.
UKAEA STEP director Paul Methven welcomed Chris, Debbie, James and Sho’s appointment in the program.

Notably STEP program aims to generate electricity for the National Grid in the 2040s.
It is responsible to deliver a prototype fusion energy powerplant being built at West Burton, Nottinghamshire.
