The UK government’s Home Office has extradited 320 foreign national for violating asylum including immigrant who arrived in the country illegally via English Channel in small boats.

A UK Home Officer spokesperson said those who were deported in month of February 2023 to their home countries include 200 foreign national offenders, 30 asylum offenders, 85 non-asylum offenders and 15 immigrants known to have arrived in the UK via small boats.

The foreign national offenders removed were convicted of crimes including rape and the supply of drugs having a total combined sentence of more than 145 years.

Commenting on the development, UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman said, “We are absolutely delivering on our commitment to return people who come here illegally or remain here without the right to do so. Since the Prime Minister’s pledge in December, we have seen a marked increase in returns as part of the government’s work to keep the public safe and tackle illegal migration.

That’s why we have announced new legislation which means people who arrive in the UK illegally will be immediately detained and swiftly removed to their home country or another safe country,” she added.

It is worth mentioning here that the extraditions are being carried out under Nationality and Borders Act (Implemented in June 2023) and since 1 January 2023, more than 690 people have been deported on 8 charters and multiple scheduled flights.

In fact, Braverman in a video released on 7 March had asserted UK government’s resolution to stop migration to the country via small boats.
