Timely Care: New tech to reduce waiting lists for patients in Britain

To deliver on UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s promise to reduce waiting lists, the government will adopt modern systems to ensure timely care to patients.
Now the patients will be able to contact general practitioners more easily and quickly in a multi-million overhaul of the National Health System (NHS).
The UK government will provide the Health and Social Care department with 240 million pounds to replace analogue phones with modern systems.
The new technology is being introduced to ensure that patients don’t get busy tones and have access to easy online tools to get treatment as soon as possible.
The patients will now get resolution for their query on time and they will be given appointments on the same day if there is some emergency.
They will be referred to NHS 111 or local pharmacy if there is no emergent situation or will be offered appointments within two weeks.
UK Health and Social Care Secretary Steve Barclay said, “We are already making real progress with 10% more GP appointments happening every month as compared to before the pandemic.
I want to make sure people receive the right support when they contact their general practice and bring an end to the 8am scramble for appointments.”
