Sunscreen for Baby’s Day Out in Sun, experts say no to cosmetic creams
London
Are you worried about your Baby’s Day Out in the Sun and want to use sunscreen for infant kids to protect them from harmful sun rays?
But this may not be a good idea as per the experts at the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is despite the fact that an infant’s skin is very sensitive and prone to get serious sunburns.
The FDA and American Academy of Pediatrics advise parents to keep newborns or infants below the age of 6 months away from direct sunlight.
The best protection from sunlight or sunburns is to keep them in the shade or covered with an umbrella or clothes or natural shade of trees.
This is because sunscreen creams have adverse effects on infants’ bodies such as rashes as compared to the skin of the adults.

The US FDA experts encouraged parents to not indulge in Baby’s day out between 10 am to 2 pm for sun is strong at these times with intense ultraviolet rays.
If one needs to go out during these times, then the parent must dress them in lightweight clothing as long pants and long sleeve shirts with a hat.
The hat must have brims so that it can shade the neck and face to avoid sunburns but avoid caps as they don’t provide cover to the neck or ears from sun rays.
And if you want to apply sunscreen cream then you must consult a pediatrician before doing that, the FDA experts added.
