Sukhu seeks Rs 1000 crore for Greenfield Airport Mandi’s construction
Shimla
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday called on Indian government to sanction Rs 1000 crore for the construction of Greenfield Airport Mandi.
He raised the demand for funding for Greenfield Airport Mandi during a meeting with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Tuesday evening.
He also requested Rs 400 crore funding for the expansion of Kangra Airport as per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission.
Sukhu also requested the Union Minister to review the decision to impose a limit on new loans under externally aided projects.
“Reconsidering this decision would help in development in various sectors of Himachal,” he added.
He further urged for intervention for expediting the signing of loan agreements for six proposals recommended by the Department of Economic Affairs for external funding.
The CM urged to review the decision to reduce the additional borrowing limit of the state equal to the amount of the National Pension Scheme (NPS) contribution for the current financial year.
Keeping in view the importance of national security, Sukhu urged to declare the Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Leh rail project as 100% centrally funded or explore a revenue-sharing mechanism for the stretch up to Beri.
