Shehzad Poonawala accuses Rahul Gandhi, team of insulting national anthem during US address

New Delhi

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala on Wednesday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his team of ignoring the disrespect of the national anthem while interacting with Indian Diaspora in the US.

In a tweet, Poonawala shared the video of Rahul Gandhi’s interaction event with Santa Clara-based Indian NRIs and claimed that the ‘Indian national anthem was disrespected during the event’.

He claimed that he had received the video from a media person who was present in Gandhi’s Santa Clara event.

“During the national anthem, half of the people Rahul addressed, later, did not even bother to stand up. Later they paused the national anthem in the middle and said it was just ‘Mic Check’,” he alleged.

He put the onus of the disrespect on Rahul Gandhi’s event organising team and called on them to clarify ‘if and why this disrespect was done’.

He questioned as to whether who were the people who didn’t stand up while the national anthem was being played as no Indian would do that.

He further questioned whether the national anthem was played for the mic check for the Congress leader’s event and called on the opposition party and Gandhi to clarify why this happened.

Gandhi family scion is also facing criticism from BJP for attacking PM Narendra Modi by saying that he would even confuse God by explaining to him how the universe works.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Sengol, that was installed in newly inaugurated Indian Parliament, is also drawing criticism.
