Punjab to follow AP, Telangana model on Food Security Act

Punjab government is mulling to follow the pattern of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana to model its Food Security Act.
Punjab State Food Commission (PSFC) chairman D P Reddy said the decision was taken to adopt the best practices for further streamlining the food security mechanism.
Accordingly, Punjab Food Security Rules, 2016 will be amended on the pattern of Andhra Pradesh Food Security Rules, 2017 and Telangana Food Security Rules.
Reddy said the Commission also accorded its approval to the revision of minimum rate of wages in respect of the various categories of outsourced employees.
These include Peon-Helper, Safai Karamchari cum Chowkidar, Driver Light, Clerk, Office Assistant (Senior Assistant), Personal Assistant, Office Superintendent Grade 1, and Private Secretary.
These employees are working in the Commission, w.e.f. 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024 in compliance with the orders of Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh.
Further, the Commission also authorized the Chairman to implement minimum revised rates of wages to its outsourced employees as per the orders of DC Chandigarh.
