Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday reiterated commitment to compensate the people for every single penny of loss incurred in heavy rains.



Mann said he is monitoring the situation every moment by taking regular updates from officials across the state.

“The government is monitoring flood situation and relief measures through district administrations. The state government is duty bound to help the people in this hour of grave crisis and no stone is being left unturned,” he added.

Mann stated that relief is being provided even to the last person in the far-flung areas of the state and priority is being given to the worst affected areas.

“Al the dams in the state are safe and water is flowing below the danger mark,” he said while hoping that the situation is likely to improve by today evening.

Already all the Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and officers are in their respective areas and reaching out to the needy people in this hour of grave crisis.

The CM said a mechanism has been put in place to protect the citizens and property from rising water levels.



He directed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) to expedite relief work in their respective districts to provide relief to people.

“We are duty bound to secure the interests of the people in this situation and the Ministers, MLAs and officers are visiting flood-prone areas to ensure that people are evacuated to safe positions,” he further added.
