Punjab Police ASI arrested for taking bribe

A Punjab Police ASI posted at Samrala Police Station was on Wednesday caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 by Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign.
A Vigilance Bureau official said Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Baldev Raj posted at the Samrala police station in Khanna police district has been arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 in two instalments.
Punjab Police ASI Baldev Raj has been arrested on the complaint of Ram Singh, resident of Bhall Majra village of Fatehgarh Sahib district after filed a complaint with the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line.
“Ram Singh has alleged that the police official had already taken Rs 9,000 in two instalments as a bribe not to register any police case against his daughter and son in law.
The accused police personnel had conducted criminal proceedings against them even after taking bribe money.
He recorded the conversation with ASI regarding payment of bribe money which was submitted to the VB as evidence,” the official added.
A case under section Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation in this case was on.
