Punjab offers Rs 1500 subsidy per acre for direct paddy sowing

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led government on Saturday announced Rs 1500 subsidy per acre for direct paddy sowing to farmers.
Informing about this, Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said the government is encouraging farmers to do direct paddy sowing to save ground water.
For this, an honorarium of Rs 1500 per acre to farmers for direct paddy sowing will be given, besides, ensuring uninterrupted 8 hours power supply.
The government will ensure 8 hour uninterrupted power supply from May 20 to 31, 2023 for Direct Sowing of Rice (DSR) across the state.
“For direct sowing of rice, electricity supply will be given for 8 hours alternate day to each agricultural feeder.
The international border area group (feeders across the barbed wire) will be provided uninterrupted power supply for 8 hours from 9 am to 5 pm.
DSR areas has divided into groups and 8 hour supply will be given between 7 am to 5 pm. However Cotton area feeders will continue to get 8 hours power supply daily for cotton sowing,” he added.
