Punjab govt announces rotational irrigation program till 22 May

Punjab government’s Water Resources Department on Tuesday announced rotational irrigation program for Kharif Season through canals from 15-22 May.

The channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan, Bathinda, Patiala Feeder and Abohar respectively.

A Punjab government official said direct distributaries of Bhakhra Main line group ‘A’ being in the channels of first preference will run to their indent.

Balanced water available will be utilized in Ghaggar Branch and P.N.C. in Group ‘B’ respectively.

All the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in group ‘A’ being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in the Abohar Branch Lower off- taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/Minors in Group ‘B’.

The channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Main Branch lower with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent.

The balance water supplies available will be utilized in Lahore Branch, Kasur Branch Lower, Sabhraon and with their distributaries respectively, he added.
