Mann said the award will be a humble tribute to these heroes who had made unparalleled sacrifices for India.
“Bestowing the Bharat Ratna award to these iconic martyrs will enhance the prestige of this award.
These great martyrs really deserve this award as they had made supreme sacrifices for freedom from British rule,” he added.
Mann stated that the lives and sacrifices of these martyrs are a source of inspiration for all of us.
He also recalled their stellar role in India’s freedom movement.
“It is a matter of great pride that Punjabis have played a leading role in the freedom struggle,” the CM said.
He vowed to eradicate maladies inherited from previous governments to realize the dreams of freedom fighters.
“Problems like corruption and drugs have flourished in the state due to the patronization by previous governments.
However, the AAP government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards these maladies that have ruined the state.
