Over 5 lakh to benefit from new community diagnostic centres in Britain

Aiming to reduce waiting lists for health checkups in Britain, the government on Monday announced opening up of 6 new community diagnostic centres (CDCs).
These one-stop shops CDCs will open this year and is likely to benefit over 500,000 netizens in getting health test, checks and scans in a year.
The CDCs will open in regions including East of England, Midlands and South East as UK government is looking increase their number to 160 by 2025.
At present, the number of these community diagnostic centres stands at 106 that deliver over 3.8 million health checks in a year since 2021.
These centres include North Lincolnshire, Pitsea, Ilkeston, North Solihull, Hereford City and Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley CDC.
These will provide residents easy access to ultrasound checks, blood tests, CT and MRI scans.
Commenting on opening of these CDCs, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, “I have pledged to cut waiting lists and these new CDCs will do exactly that.”
Sunak stated that these will speed up diagnosis and treatment of diseases as cancer and scans by offering health checks near to homes.
“These centres revolutionise the way the NHS delivers care and crucially, they are saving lives,” he added.
