Nurturing Healthy Lifestyle: Shimla to host Heritage Bycycle Ride on World Bicycle Day
Shimla
Aiming to nurture a healthy lifestyle and showcase Shimla as a cycling-friendly non-polluting travel destination, a Heritage Bicycle ride and slow race is being organized on World Bicycle Day, falling on 3 June.
The CAHP (Cycling Association of Himachal Pradesh Regd) is organising the event to promote Cycling and its usage in Shimla to make it a bicycle-friendly destination.
It is worth noting that United Nations General Assembly declared 3rd June as World Bicycle Day in 2018 after passing a resolution.

The resolution is aimed at recognising ‘the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport’.
The cheap transport medium conveys a positive message to foster sustainable consumption and production, with a positive impact on climate.
In a congested city like Shimla, it not only promotes a healthy lifestyle, besides providing a better environment-friendly and healthy means of travel.
“For the first time in the history of the sport of cycling in Himachal, a slow race would be organized where the quality of the riders will be assessed on control and balance on two pedaling wheels.
