Neeraj Chopra gets Indian govt nod to train in Finland

Olympic Gold medalist and Javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra was on Thursday granted permission to travel to Finland for advanced training.
A government spokesperson said the permission to Neeraj Chopra was granted during the meeting of the Mission Olympic Cell by Indian Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry.
Chopra, the first Indian Javelin Thrower to become the world number one in the sport, is scheduled to participate in various international events.
These events are scheduled to be held in June this year and he will compete in various events as World Athletics – Gold level tournaments.
Neeraj Chopra is planning to train at the Kuortane Olympic Training Centre in Finland, a training plan that he followed in 2022 too.
The Mission Olympic Cell has also approved such training requests of other athletes as Payas Jain, Manika Batra, and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran.
Under the Mission Olympic, the Indian government bears expenses such as air travel, boarding, and lodging, etc of athletes who want to train abroad or by specialists to achieve better results.
The Mission Olympic Cell has also decided to induct Rower Salman Khan into the Target Olympic Podium Scheme development group.
Salman Khan, a native of the Mewat region of Haryana, grabbed eyeballs after he won the gold medal in Rowing at National Games held in Gujarat last year.
