Mukhtar Ansari’s cozy stay in Punjab Jails: Mann asks Cong leaders to pay up or lose pension
Chandigarh
In another salvo at Punjab Congress leaders, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday vowed to not pay for UP Gangster Mukhtar Ansari’s cozy stay in jails and vowed to recover it from ex-CM and Dy CM.
Mann said the money will be recovered from ex-CM Captain Amarinder Singh and his deputy, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and if the Congress leaders fail to pay up, he will stop their pension and other facilities.
As per Mann, the then Punjab government of Capt Amarinder alleged provided facilities for cozy stay of gangster Mukhtar Ansari in Ropar and other Punjab jails.
“My government will not pay Rs 55 lakh spent on cozy stay of dreaded criminal Mukhtar Ansari in Jails of state and will recover this money from Captain Amarinder and Randhawa,” he added.
He termed it a crime against the state and its people and said only ex-CM or his deputy could explain the reasons behind such lavish facilities extended to dreaded gangster at the expense of government exchequer.
“Why should the state waste taxpayer’s money in this way, just because those in power at that time had strong bond with Ansari.
This is brazen loot of the public money which cannot be tolerated,” he said, adding a sum of Rs 55 lakh was spent for luxurious facilities at Ropar Jail.
Mann added Captain and Randhawa will have to pay for such wasteful expenditure or lose pension and other facilities.
He asserted his government’s commitment to punish all those who were involved in such heinous crime and made accountable for their sins.
