Kinnaur landless people to get land under Forest Rights Act: HP Min

Stressing on better coordination between Forest Rights Committees {FRC) and administration, HP Revenue, Horticulture, and Tribal Development Jagat Singh Negi said landless people of Kinnaur should be given land under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) 2006.
Negi made these remarks while chairing the Kinnaur district and special FRC constituted under FRA during a review meeting on Wednesday.
“Under the FRA, better coordination should be established between the FRCs and the officials to facilitate landless people to get its benefits. In addition, officials should provide training to FRCs at block level so that needy people can avail benefits of FRA 2006,” Negi added.
He also ordered timely meetings of FRCs so that the eligible people of the district could get own land under the Forest Rights Act 2006.
He termed the FRA a gift from the then Congress government at the Centre and said its main objective was to provide land to the poor and landless people of the tribal district.
He asserted the commitment of the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh to provide benefits of the Act to the needy.
He also mentioned that the Nautor Act 1968 was another gift of the Congress government to landless people which late CM Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar had implemented.
He also reviewed works under the Local Area Development Authority and directed the officers to complete the various works in a stipulated time frame.
He further ordered action against hydropower projects that had not deposited funds under LADA with the administration on time.
