Kanika Ahuja named in Indian Women’s Cricket team for Asian Games

Patiala girl Kanika Ahuja has been selected for the Indian Women’s Cricket team for the 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou in China.
Kanika Ahuja on Tuesday met Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer who congratulated the cricketer for her selection.
20-year-old Kanika Ahuja hails from Patiala and she had previously excelled for India A, Punjab in domestic cricket and Bangalore in the WPL.
Apart from Ahuja, Captain Harmanpreet Kaur has also been included in the Indian team selected for the Asian Games to be played in September-October. Harleen Deol is the stand-by player.
After the meeting, Meet Hayer said for the past few years, the women players of Punjab have been performing very well in cricket.
“After Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, and Tania Bhatia, now Kanika has brought glory to the name of Punjab by securing a place in the Indian team.
The government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is making continuous efforts to make Punjab the leading state of the country in sports,” he added.
He extended his best wishes for a good performance in the Asian Games and he also discussed her initiation into the sport and practice schedule.
Kanika Ahuja’s coach Kamal Sandhu and Cricket Hub Academy director Harjot Bajwa were also present.
