Justice Peter Fraser appointed Law Commission for England & Wales chairman

Justice Peter Fraser was on Thursday appointed as the new chairman of Law Commission of England and Wales.

The announcement came after the approval of Lord Chancellor Alex Chalk for the appointment of Justice Peter Fraser as the new chairman.

Fraser will take over as the Law Commission chairman from 1 December 2023 onwards and his appointment entails a term of three years.

Fraser had completed his MA in Law and LLM from the University of Cambridge and he had practiced law at Atkin Chambers from 1990 to 2015.

He specializes in international arbitration, technology, engineering and construction disputes.

It is worth noting that the Law Commission is UK’s statutory body to review and recommend reforms in laws as and when required, besides, ensuring free, fair and cost-effective justice to all.

The Chairman of the Law Commission of England and Wales is appointed by the Lord Chancellor, the traditional high ranking minister, as per section 1 of the Law Commissions Act 1965.
