Indian govt ready for discussion on Manipur violence in Parliament: Amit Shah
New Delhi
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the Indian government is ready for discussions on Manipur violence in the Parliament.
As reported by news agency, PTI, Shah said he had written to opposition leaders of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha that government is ready for discussions on violence in Manipur.
It is worth noting that Manipur violence flared up on May 4 after the state government extend ST status to the Meitei community in addition to Kuki tribal population.
This has led to violence between both sides with a video of sexual assault on two Kuki women by a mob emerging a few days back.
This had led to widespread controversy with Indian PM Narendra Modi issuing a statement condemning the violence and vowing to punish the guilty.
