India to develop 250 ropeways of 1,200 km length in next 5 years

Aiming to ensure sustainable and safer transport, Indian government will develop 250 ropeways of srounf 1,200 km length in next five years under Parvatmala project.

Indian Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari informed about this during ‘INTERALPIN 2023 Fair’, the leading international trade fair for Alpine Technologies at Innsbruck, Austria. 

Addressing the gathering, Gadkari said, “The Indian government plans to develop 250+ projects with a ropeway length of 1,200+ km over 5 years. 

“Our focus is on PPP under Hybrid Annuity Model with 60 percent contribution support by Indian government. 

We are promoting the manufacturing of ropeway components under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”.

Gadkari stated that the government is urging the Austrian and European industries to participate in enhancement of existing ropeway standards to ensure sustainable and safer transport.

“Our government invites them to be a part of this transformational journey as we take Indian infrastructure to greater heights,” he added.

He visited exhibits of world’s leading manufacturers of ropeway systems offering high-tech solutions, innovative design, top quality, and functionality to pave way for convenient and eco-friendly transport.
