Imbibing Traditional knowledge: A research to integrate ayurvedic, allopathic medicine

Indian on Thursday announced plans to integrate ayurvedic and allopathic medicine system to imbibe traditional knowledge and further strengthen the country’s health infrastructure.

A memorandum of agreement (MOA) to this effect was signed between Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Ayush Ministry.

The MoA was signed by Ayush Ministry Secretary Rajesh Kotecha and ICMR DG Rajiv Bahal in presence of Mansukh Mandavaiya, India’s Health Minister and Sarbananda Sonowal, Ayush Minister.

Under the MoA, the two departments will work to explore areas of integration of health research for curing diseases of national importance and strengthen research capacity.

Commenting on the initiative, Mansukh Mandaviya said, “Combining traditional knowledge with modern research and innovation, it will boost Ayurveda to further build its identity on the basis of scientific evidence.” 

Sarbananda Sonowal said, “This agreement will serve to expedite and broaden this momentum, further strengthening evidence-based research capacities. 

This indeed is positive progression and consolidating the strengths, resources and capacities of two institutions will indeed bring fruitful results.”
