ICC World Cup 2023 matches at Dharamshala: Stadium ready with new outfield, better facilities

The cricket fans in Himachal Pradesh are elated as five matches of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 are scheduled to be played at the iconic Dharamshala Stadium.
HP Cricket Association officials said as per the announced schedule, 5 matches of the ICC World Cup 2023 will be played in Dharamshala Stadium.
“This is a historic moment in the history of HPCA. Yet another milestone has been achieved in its incredible journey over the last 20 years that was made possible by former chief Anurag Thakur and Arun Dhumal’s efforts,” he added.
He stated that they had, in the last 20 years, worked relentlessly for the upliftment of the game and the cricketing infrastructure in the state.

“We are very thankful to the BCCI and ICC for giving us this prestigious opportunity for hosting the matches,” he said while thanking BCCI chief Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah for choosing this venue.
The HPCA improved the ground and the settings last year to make it one of the best outfields in the world and that it was evident in the successful IPL games held last month.
The stadium now has the SIS Air a state of art air evacuation system along with a combination of stunning cold season Ryegrass and shade tolerant fine leaf Paspalum grass.

Besides, a drainage system has been created which is one of the most advanced in all cricket grounds in India, adding to the stunning beauty of the Dhauladhar Mountains in the backdrop.
“We are very excited at this huge opportunity and are ready to host these 5 big games featuring 8 test playing nations for the first time in a 50-over format,” HOCA secretary Avnish Parmar said.
