300 tourists stranded at Chandrataal Lake in Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh will still have to wait for rescue as officials couldn’t reach the spot due to heavy snow.

ADC Kaza Rahul Jain said a rescue team that had left for Chadrataal to shift stranded tourists to safer places, wasn’t able to reach beyond Kunjum Top.

The team had to return to Losar last evening after reaching Kunjum Top and it is 25 km away from the lake.

“There is around 3-4 feet of snow at Kunjam Top which is hampering rescue operations. A team has reached the spot for snow clearing operation and we are hopeful to reach Chandrataal Lake by evening today,” Jain added.
