In a one of its kind case, a girl allegedly swallowed drugs (chitta) to escape law in Shimla, the capital of India’s northern state of Himachal Pradesh.

However, the cops had noticed the woman drug smuggler’s unusual movement and got the drugs removed by endoscopy.

A Shimla Police official said a team stopped a car coming from Sanjauli at Cemetery Tunnel near Dhalli in which five persons including a woman were travelling.

As they were asked to stop, a woman allegedly swallowed a polythene packet and drank water after that.

The cops found this unusual for they had tip-off about smugglers carrying contraband travelling through the route.

Upon this, the woman identified as Shaheen Sultan’s friends Mukul Sharma, Happy Chandel, Saurav Panwar and Harsh were questioned who told the police that she had swallowed heroin (chitta).

Sultan was taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College where doctors recovered over 7 gram drugs from her stomach via endoscopy.

“This is a unique case of its own kind in the state where the contraband is swallowed by a girl accused and then recovered via endoscopy,” the official added.

All the five accused have been placed under arrest and further investigations in the matter are on.
