Himachal Budget: BJP to boycott MLAs Priority Meetings

The BJP will boycott the MLA priority meetings for the Himachal Budget to be held on February 3 and 4, announced the Leader of Opposition and former CM Jairam Thakur.

Thakur said this was being done due to the negative attitude of the CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led Congress government and for insulting the MLAs’ institution.

He alleged that the Sukhu government didn’t consider the proposals submitted by the BJP MLAs in the last two years nor any action has been taken on these.

The MLAs specifically submit schemes under the IPH or PWD department and in the last two years, no action has been taken on previously submitted proposals.

And now, this is the third MLA priority meeting but there is no use in attending it as the process of preparing DPR hasn’t been started on previous proposals.

Hence, the question of getting the demands met by officials didn’t arise due to the Congress government’s negative approach, he stated.

“Not only this, the government is neglecting the work on DPRs already prepared during the previous BJP regime, and are meant for opposition MLAs’ areas. It is being said that a list of ready DPRs is being prepared and only MLAs favouring the CM Sukhu regime are being presented before NABARD for approval,” said Thakur.

He further alleged that even Congress MLAs who aren’t considered the CM’s loyalists are also facing the same predicament. In addition, the district administration was only inviting those persons who were in the CM’s coterie, to the government’s functions across the state.

“I think it is very unfortunate as when the CM used to be in opposition, he used to give long speeches on MLAs institution. But now, he seems to have forgotten his own words,” the former CM added.
