Govt to come out with a policy to stop Punjabi women’s exploitation abroad

Punjab Women and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur on Sunday announced to come out with a policy to stop the exploitation of Punjabi women abroad for which consultations are being held with stakeholders.
Kaur made these remarks during a discussion on the issue in Jalandhar in which Local Govt Minister Balkar Singh, MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann and women from across the state were present.
Assuring to include concerns raised by the women who fell victim to exploitation abroad especially due to misguidance by travel agents, Kaur said the new policy will come into force soon.

The women who had fallen victim to such incidents told the minister that they were assured of secure jobs abroad but instead, they got nothing but suffer in the country they were sent.
Expressing grief over such incidents, the Minister said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government will take strict action to prevent the occurrence of such incidents in the future.
“Mann government won’t tolerate such exploitation of women on foreign soil and strict legal measures will be introduced to safeguard their interests,” she added.
Kaur also assured of efforts to provide maximum benefit to Punjabi women through the ‘Sakhi One Stop Center’ scheme.
