Good news for tipplers visiting Himachal hill stations as bar timings extended till 1 am
Shimla
In a good news for tipplers who love to booze in the serene beauty of the Himalayas, the bar timings in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh have been increased to 1 am.
Earlier, the tourists visiting India’s northern hill state used to feel high and dry as the bars used to close at 11 pm.
The disappointment was far much bigger for domestic weekend travelers from neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, for they always reach the Queen of Hills late owing to massive traffic jams.

But the government’s decision, taken in a Cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday evening, will now bring extra cheers on the faces of domestic as well as foreign travelers.
“The Cabinet gave its nod to fix the timing of Bars (in Himachal Pradesh) from 12 noon to 1 am for the year 2023-24,” a government official said.

It was also the long pending demand of Bar and Hoteliers Associations since the timings seemed absurd to tourists from metropolitan cities where bars generally remain open till late.
Tourism Industry Stakeholders Association chief Mohinder Seth commended the HP government’s move and said it will further give a boost to the tourism economy of the state.
