Gamechanger To Danger: Men gangrape girl, friend after befriending on social media

Using social media without knowing its dangers proved dangerous to a girl as three men gangrape her and her friend after blackmailing her in Bathinda district of Punjab.
As per reports, the three men identified as Harmel Singh, Manminder Singh and Harful Singh used to befriend girls on social media platforms as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
The case came to light after a girl and her friend who were gangraped by the trio, trapped one of them and snatched his phone which was later handed over to the police as evidence.
DSP Rampura Phul Aashwant Singh said the complainant told that she was befriended by one of the accused on social media and later they gangraped her in Bhagta Bhaika village.
The trio also recorded the incident and they used to blackmail by threatening to leak video and forced her to bring her friends too.
When she brought her friend, they gangraped her too and recorded the incident after which she was also threatened to bring her friends.
Fed up with the threats, they hatched a plan and snatched the phone in which had video of gangrape and it was later submitted as proof.
Bathinda SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said the accused are absconding after the incident and a hunt is on to nab them.
Police haven’t revealed the exact number of victims who had fallen prey to the accused’s nefarious plans.
The trio, who were pursuing an IELTS course, were the resident of Sukhanand village of Moga district and belonged to well-off families.
