Bengaluru
Congress and other opposition parties, around 26, on Tuesday announced to fight against Prime Minister Narendra led ruling BJP under INDIA banner, short for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.
This was announced by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge during the second-day meeting of opposition unity in Bengaluru, the capital of the Southern Indian state of Karnataka.
In the opposition’s show of unity, 26 parties including AAP, TMC, SP, RJD among others participated and vowed to come together to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The opposition leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamta Banerjee, Udhhav Thackrey decided to name the alliance, INDIA.
The alliance will have 11 members and an office will be set up soon for coordination between various parties which is likely to be announced in the next meeting, scheduled to be held in Mumbai.
“BJP has destroyed all the agencies of democracy like ED, CBI etc. We have political differences, but we have come together to save the country.
In our Patna meeting, there were 16 parties were present and the number has now increased to 26 parties in today’s meeting,” Kharge said, while assuring of bringing good results to defeat BJP.
“The BJP did not get 303 seats by itself. It used the votes of its allies and came to power and then discarded them.
The BJP President and their leaders are running from state-to-state to patch up with their old allies. They are scared that the unity they see here will result in their defeat next year,” he said in a tweet.
