CBI nabs Tripura Chit Fund scam accused from Maharashtra
Bikash Das, an accused in Tripura Chit Fund Scam, was on Monday arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Bhiwandi in Maharashtra.
A CBI official said Das, a native of Panchgram in the Hailakandi district of Assam, was wanted in the alleged Tripura Chit Fund Scam of 2012.
He was declared a proclaimed offender in 2013 and was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 for his arrest.
“The CBI received intelligence inputs regarding his presence in Bhiwandi and Das was arrested. He will soon be presented before a court,” said the official.
The CBI had registered two cases on 15 March and 7 March 2023 against the accused including Bikash Das, then Director of Suchana Real Projects Pvt. Ltd.
“Suchana Real Estate Private Limited and its Directors including Bikash Das and others collected money from hundreds of investors with the promise of higher returns. But they closed its office in 2012 without paying maturity amounts to the complainants and other investors,” he added.
