Caught On Camera: California cop goes on wild ride to rescue spooked horse named Oreo

California

It was surely a wild ride for Burbank Police Department officer Nicholas Moreno after receiving a call about a house, Oreo running frantically in the Rancho area of Burbank City in the US state of California.

Burbank Police Department Sgt Brent Fekety said they received a call at 12.30 in the morning on 23 May about a horse, later identified as Oreo running frantically in the Rancho neighbourhood.

The horse was running with the saddle on its back, giving the impression that the rider might have fallen off and injured.

However, the horse was later found grazing in front of a house and Officer Nicholas Moreno who knew horseriding reunited Oreo with its owner, resulting in a happy ending for all concerned.

“The owner told police that the horse spooked after riding and ran off,” Fekety added.

In a tweet, the City of Burbank said, “A Wild Ride With a Good Outcome! On May 23, 2023, BPD Officers successfully rescued a loose horse named “Oreo” in the Rancho area.

Thankfully, one of the responding officers was skilled in horseback riding & quickly reunited Oreo with its owner.”
