Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday directed officials to immediately release the pending salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers in a bid to provide relief to them.

After a meeting of the Women and Child Development department, Mann ordered the release of Rs 3.09 crore to clear the pending wages of Anganwadi workers and helpers.

Punjab CM stressed that the government is committed to the welfare of all employees and the workers for inclusive development of the state.

“Orders have been issued to immediately clear the pending salaries of the workers and helpers working in the three blocks of Bathinda, Tarsikka and Sidhwan Bet.

The wages were pending since October last year for which the amount has been released,” he added.

Mann said that the role of Anganwadi workers is vital and the government start reforms to ensure their welfare and ensure that they do not face any hardship while rendering their services.
