Would you like to watch a movie if you knew there is only one character or film actor carrying out the entire drama. Only diehard fans would like to risk it in modern times.
However, #Alone movie showcases that the feat can be achieved brilliantly, with South Film Industry and its superstar, Mohan Lal presenting and showcasing the power of cinema.
Set in Covid pandemic era lockdown, Mohan Lal dons the role of Kalidas who gets stuck alone in a flat in prominent housing society in Kochi.
The story unfolds in the building apartment with a virus-scary person carrying a sanitizer spray arrives in the complex and spreads the alcoholic scent on everything that he comes across.
Released on 26 January 2023 in theatres and on OTT on 3 March, Alone movie carries out through the main lead and only person onscreen, Mohanlal with other supporting cast appearing only through voice roles.
The film started as a small film to support unemployed workers in Malayalam film industry and it was shot within pandemic restrictions in 18 days from September to October 2021.
A Malayalam language mystery thriller directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Rajesh Jayaraman, the movie plays through audience’s mind and is a brilliant example of what cinema can achieve.
