10K Bihu dancers to aim for new Guinness World Record, PM to attend event

More than 10,000 Bihu dancers will aim for a new Guinness World Record for largest dance performance at a single venue on 14 April at Guwahati in the Eastern state of India, Assam. 

Bihu dance is indigenous dance form and integral part of culture of Assam which is performed in the month of April to mark Bihu Festival.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will witness the mega Bihu dance, being organized to globally showcase it as a mascot of cultural identity and life of the Assamese people. 

“The event would feature more than 10,000 performers/Bihu dancers in a single venue.

The performer will attempt a New Guinness World Record in the category of largest Bihu dance performance in the world in a single venue. 

It will feature artists from across the 31 districts of the state,” a spokesperson of the Indian government.

PM Modi will also dedicate AIIMS, three other Medical colleges, foundation and inaugurate projects worth Rs 10,900 crore for the state during his visit.
